As 2018 is upon us, I love to reflect on the past year and take time to be grateful for my loving family, wonderful friends and good health (and all of you amazing babes!) What I don’t always love is coming up with New Year’s resolutions. But this year I’ve decided to take a different approach that has less pressure, is more attainable and makes me excited for the year ahead!
Step one: changing one small thing at a time.
For example, if I want to eat healthier, I’m not going to go gung-ho paleo in a week. A small change can be using soy milk as coffee creamer instead of Half-and-Half. Or if I vow to work out more, I’m going to be realistic about it. We’re talking yoga (something I actually enjoy) 2 times a week instead of jumping into training for the Chicago Marathon. You don’t need to get ambitious with major changes, because you’re pretty amazing already!
Step two: focus on mental changes.
I believe that so many of our resolutions are centered around physical changes, and this year I want to work on mental changes. Take regular breaks from social media to be more present and clear my head. Let my friends know how truly valuable they are to me by making time for them (whether it be shop, coffee, spa or all of the above!). Vowing to keep date night with my hubby a priority with a non-negotiable, no cancelation policy. Letting my kids know how proud I am of the little people they’ve become. And let’s face it babes, these are all much easier than making a resolution to join Crossfit (and arguably much more important).
When making resolutions and goals, it’s so important to be kind to yourself. Life can come at you fast babe! But we must make time for improvements and those that we love, and in the end, everything else will fall into place! Cheers to a fabulous and fashionable 2018!
